Advantages of HF
ballasts:
§
Fast flash-free start.
§
Flicker-free lighting.
§
Very low magnetic field
§
Always powers the light source
with optimal values and gives the correct luminous flux irrespective of
fluctuations in the mains supply.
§
Extends the light source’s
mortality rate by up to 50%
§
Low share of harmonics (THD)
§
Disengages failed fluorescent
lamps (no irritating flickering)
§
Saves at least 20% energy,
Savings in the region of 60% are possible.
§
Controllable ballasts allow
dimming.
§
Give a low share of unwanted
heat.
§
No stroboscopic effects.
Investigations
show that people working in an environment with HF lighting, feel better, are
less tired and perform better. Not
every person can perceive flicker from conventionally powered fluorescent
lamps with their eyes, however, their subconscious does.
The technology
gives, through more effective utilization of the energy less heat development
due to a lower installed output and less outputlosses. As a consequence of this, cooling and
ventilation installations can be designed smaller and thereby less expensive
to acquire and operate.
Even maintenance
costs in the form of light sources and relamping fall due to a generally
longer mortality rate.
